The Fashionchick Story
Online or offline, it is not always easy to find exactly what you’re looking for. Whether it’s an addition to your wardrobe or a gift for a girlfriend, how do you know if you made the right choice? We understand women have a tendancy to want to see everything before they buy anything!
“It all began in 2007. Online shopping was a relatively new concept but I had the realisation that a central point for all the best online shops was missing. An online shopping street with all my favourtie shops. A site where women can find inspiration, chat about their finds and then shop these items directly. The idea of Fashionchick became a reality and we now have it all in one beautiful site.”
Antoine is responsible for the overall strategy, new markets, sales, marketing and general management.

Ellen co-founded Fashionchick.nl in 2007. The idea was based on her thesis which she completed whilst working at the company, No Search. Eventually the concept was expanded and grew to be the largest social shopping sites for women in the Netherlands. As of September 2013 Sanoma b.v bought a 100% share of the company No Search and Ellenow works as the concept and brand manager for Fashionchick, Mentoday, Kidstoday and Styletoday.
Traffic & Product Manager
In January 2009, Sjoerd, a fresh university graduate began an internship at No Search. After successfully completing his internship, he began working as a PHP programmer in the organisation. Partly because of his passion for search, he additionally worked on the successful development of a search strategy for Fashionchick. His combination of technical and commercial expertise ensures a good traffic mix for all sites. By 2013, Sjoerd had a dedicated team of five full-time SEM specialists and motivated trainees who are engaged in the testing and development of new campaigns on a daily basis. In addition, they provide support for the various concepts.
Catharina leads the international team of Fashionchick. She has an educational and professional background in comparative international relations with a focus on The Netherlands and Germany. After finishing her studies in Münster and Nijmegen she moved to the Netherlands. Catharina has always worked in an international environment and has a passion for marketing and all things digital. She recently bought an apartment in Amsterdam and spends most of her free time boating in the canals. Appointed with the first international expansion of Fashionchick into the German market Catharina has since then taken on new responsibilities as Head of Fashionchick International. Her current role allows her to analyse and shape the brand’s international e-commerce strategy. She is looking forward to continue the current growth and success the company has had internationally.
Jaap de Jong
As product manager Storefronts I’m responsible for collecting and prioritising business requests regarding all Fashionchick sites and translating them into clear technical tasks for the development team. Making sure that we’re getting things done!

Marketing Manager NL
Merel is Marketing Manager at Fashionchick Netherlands. After graduating at Media & Information Management and Styling at Vogue Academy, Amsterdam she started working for a fashion e-commerce concept. In 2012 Merel joined our team. With her parents working as fashion entrepreneurs, fashion runs in the family. As the Marketing Manager and Editor in Chief, Merel is responsible for all on and offline marketing activities and site-content. Crazy for magazines and a sports-nut who loves to eat out, you'll rarely spot Merel without a new favourite lipstick on!
Sarah is the country manager for both Fashionchick and Mentoday in Germany. Prior to joining Sanoma, she worked for another large fashion company, the Otto Group in Hamburg, Germany. Having worked in online marketing since 2009, Sarah brings a wealth of experience and knowledge about the German e-commerce market.
Kavita Verryth is the product manager for Fashionchick United Kingdom and Australia, having been with the company since November 2012. In addition to overseeing the sales and editorial work on both sites and attending events on behalf of Fashionchick, Kavita also works closely with Fashionchicks concept manager on creating original site content. Kavita is Australian born and bred - and from a young age developed healthy love of pop culture, sports, and celebrity news - somewhat straying from a classicly fashionable background. After graduating with a Law and Busines degree from Deakin University and spending a brief amount of time in Sports and Athlete Marketing, Kavita ventured across to Europe for a fresh adventure in the plus size modelling industry. Recognising the need for her own desk space and craving some structure soon after, Kavita joined Fashionchick and hasnt looked back.
Olivia is responsible for Fashionchick France, and is working on sales development and marketing. After completing a master in international business and marketing, she moved to the Netherlands to start her career in digital marketing. With experience as a sales manager, Olivia contributed to the development of the Belgian market at Zanox Benelux, a major international affiliation platform. With a strong interest for the creative and fashion world, Olivia found her way to Fashionchick and is proud to contribute to the growth of Fashionchick France.
Sales & Accountmanager NL
Denise started working for Fashionchick.nl in 2010 as Media & Communications intern and noticed that the editorial side of the company wasnt really her kind of thing. Soon she made the salesdepartment her own, what made her feel more like home at Fashionchick. Because performance marketing comes in hand with conversion optimization, a thesis for Fashionchick.nl wasnt a bad idea and graduated at Fashionchick as well. Years later Denise is still responsible for the sales, performance of the shops and expanded her sales portfolio with Fashionchick international: MEN TODAY, Kidstoday, Styletoday and Myhomeshopping.
Sales & Accountmanager NL
Wendy is working as a Sales & Account manager since 2012. She graduated with her Master degree in Marketing and completed internships at Ford Netherlands and transavia.com before travelling for 5 months in South-America. After this great experience she joined our team to form the Dutch sales department together with Denisel. Two years later she is not only making sales for the Dutch site, but also for the international concepts, MEN TODAY, Kidstoday, Styletoday and Myhomeshopping. Wendy loves fashion, her friends, food, instagram, citytrips and the sun. Her favourite color is black. Of course.

Quynh joined No Search as the Sales & Account Manager for Fashionchick.de and Mentoday.de in January 2014. She was raised and born in Germany and has lived in the USA and Australia. In 2008 she moved to the Netherlands to study “International Media & Entertainment Management” with the focus on Music Management. Besides music, fashion has always played a big role in her life which is why she really enjoys working for Fashionchick and Mentoday.
Sales & Accountmanager UK
As Sales & Marketing Coordinator for Fashionchick UK and AU, Rebecca Twohey is responsible for the integration and management of our online shops and the production of engaging marketing material. Beginning her journey at Fashionchick as our SEO Intern, Rebecca previously worked as the Online Marketing Manager for StudentJob UK where she developed her SEO knowledge and found a great affinity for the management of partner relationships. Leeds born and bred as one of three sisters, Rebecca adds a touch of the north we definitely love! Rebecca graduated from The Nottingham Trent University and can often be found in her natural habitat, Zara.
Mette de Vries
As a graphic designer, Mette is always busy creating the prettiest of images for all Fashionchick websites. She knows exactly how to make perfect outfit combinations and has a bit of a Rock & Roll edge. Check out her adorable website called Rock n Ruche for more info on what inspires this artistic soul.
In 2010 Marlies walked into our office as a reserved writing-addict and student Media & Communications. Having started as an editorial intern, four years down the track she is still the writing-geek she always was. In her role, Marlies supports the editorial staff with interviews, well-written columns and tongue-in-cheek humour. She’s also one of the editors for MEN TODAY and works as a freelance writer in her spare time.
Amanda van Effrink

This Fashionchick is our stylist and creative designer. Beginning her time with us in 2011, she completed her education at the Vogue Academy in Amsterdam. Amanda is co-designer of all Fashionchick shoe and bag collections, styles our Dutch TV commercials and the TV series Lekkerbezig Fashionchick at Net5. She loves blogging, illustrating, dancing through Amsterdam, and is crazy about glitter and addicted to online shopping!
Content Manager Germany
Rahel started as a Fashionchick intern and is now the Junior Content Manager for Fashionchick.de and Mentoday.de . After travelling through various countries such as Australia and China she studied International Business Management in the Netherlands and gained first-hand insights into e-Commerce while working in Munich. Now she enjoys living and experiencing life in the fashion hub of Amsterdam.

As a front-end developer Ralph makes sure Fashionchick looks good on all possible devices. When he’s not pushing pixels around he spends his time working on cross device and user experience improvements for the Fashionchick platform.

Junior Search Specialist NL
Joining the team in February 2014, Bas spends most of his time on the Dutch versions of Fashionchick, Mentoday, Kidstoday and Myhomeshopping. As a junior search specialist he manages our paid traffic sources such as Google Adwords. Bas is a true believe that performance needs to be improved on a daily basis to achieve the best results!
As a Conversion specialist I combine data to optimize the online customer experience. Through this process, I help to get insights about customers behaviour and translate these insights into online improvements. I do this mainly by performing A/B testing: different content or layout ideas are tested on our products to fine-tune the optimal solution for our visitors. In addition, I initiate usability tests to identify possible bottlenecks at our websites.
Before I started at Storefronts, I worked for several years as a UX Researcher at Jungle Minds. Here I gained a lot of experience with user research.
Now I use this experience and knowledge to create an optimal shop environment for fashion lovers (like myself ;)).

As a Search Specialist I am responsible for optimizing and analyzing the German and Austrian Fashionchick, MenToday and HomeToday accounts within Google, Bing and Facebook.
The Online Marketing is a passion and a challenge. In managing the accounts I help to let the German and Austrian market grow and get more visibility and brand awareness in this huge fashion jungle.
In combining my two passions, online marketing and fashion, Fashionchick is a great place to get inspired and motivated every day over and over again.
My goal is to get Fashionchick one of the top fashion platforms in Germany.

Started at Fashionchick as a SEO intern in 2013, two years later, Anh was glad to come back to the company as a full time search specialist for the UK website. She is responsible for managing paid traffic sources, meaning making the best purchasing out of the company budget. She has a degree in Business Management with true passion for digital marketing, besides her quite serious obsession with shopping. Coming to the Netherlands from Vietnam when just turning 18, Anh is still enjoying her long and adventurous journey to Europe.
